A wasted week?

Monday was past,
and the rest of the fast
and far flung week
among the seeking eyes
of other tries
I felt eclipsed.
I thought your lips
were kissed by more
impressive men.
And, I’d felt helpless
to compete with all the neat
and expert tongues,
which sung to you
a sweeter song,
than the one I had rehearsed.

And though my verse
was good enough
for one short night,
even then
the magic of our when
was gently rendered.
Passion surrendered
to the last of separate days
which passed before we met.
Where all my expectations
had yet to be fulfilled
and all my hopes
were stilled by strangeness,
and a fast approaching dawn.
Warning we would part,
before a start was ever truly made.

  2. This has such a melancholy note... I love the use of metaphor, the sensuality blended in with poetry and song in just the right measure.

  8. Yep get those warnings but few rarely take heed, love the last lines. Nice song quality to it as well.

  9. Oh...so sad! But at least, if but for a moment, this poor soul felt worthy enough to act on the passion. Many of us dance through life without even the courage to try. Imagine the missed moments of magic! Another wonderful, wonderful write that takes my imagination so way beyond the obvious! Thank you :) (And another PERFECT pic as well!)

  11. My first visit to your blog - very lovely post.

I am always interested in a man's point of view of relationship. And no, it was not a wasted week!
