Opinions!
Opinions are nice when I own them,
When they’re ones which belong first to me,
I like nothing more than to voice them
And stir up some controversy.
This is achieved very simply,
For instead of accepting I’m right,
Most people hold views contradictory,
Thus proving they’re not very bright!
When they’re ones which belong first to me,
I like nothing more than to voice them
And stir up some controversy.
This is achieved very simply,
For instead of accepting I’m right,
Most people hold views contradictory,
Thus proving they’re not very bright!

Got me chuckling, James. Thanks for the comic relief. This poem seems allied to that famous "you're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts' line that always comes to mind when I'm exposed to certain radio and tv talking heads.
ReplyDeleteha. nicely said james...a lyrical rhyme...and i dont mind a bit of controversy...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's a poem. but I felt a bit smart after reading.
ReplyDeleteJames so sorry, I've come by so late in the day. I think your poem was very clever and the rhymes neat, compact, and unforced. I caught the assonance, the true rhymes, and the consonance in beginnings, ends and in the middle. Well done you, and in such a short poem too! Thanks, Gay
ReplyDeleteI enjoy a good debate and to be challenged lol. Nicely said James.
ReplyDeleteAnita.
A jaunty piece of witticism!
ReplyDelete(And one with which I must concur...)
