A Poem for Easter
In praise of Sisters everywhere

A nun in the sun
was heard to declare
“I’m as hot as a bun
  with a cross to bear.”

Her companion replied
“And I’m fairly cooking.
I’d cast my habit aside,
but our Lord may be looking.”

So they sat on the beach
and prayed for a breeze
to refreshingly reach
past their tightly clenched knees.

  5. I'm laughing--just try and stop me. Poor ladies...surely they need to make a "nun beach" somewhere for them?

  6. Seemingly seemly, but I'm witholding judgement until I've read Victoria's comment :-)
A little different from my Easter encounter with Bach's St. Matthew's Passion this week. Two sides of the coin?

  9. LOL Reminds me of one of those old 40's or 50's saucy postcards.
A nun in the sun... Giggling.

  13. I enjoyed this James! I grew up with nuns in habits and often wondered how anyone could wear so much clothing!

  15. My life changed the instant I cast my habit aside! ;)James, if you have not been told you are awesome today, I am here to honor the debt. You are awesome! Your pen, perhaps even more so. This poor tired soul was in desperate need of a smile and you delivered in spades! Thank you!

  18. This has the "feel" of a limerick without being one. It did make me smile. Perhaps in this age of casting off the habit, they actually can wade waters in something respectably more suitable for water! LOL!

  23. Well, James, now I have another reason to be grateful that I didn't become a nun although the beach would have to be lower on the list than other things that nuns miss out on. Very clever. I needed that chuckle today! Thanks :)
