A Poem for Easter
In praise of Sisters everywhere
In praise of Sisters everywhere
A nun in the sun
was heard to declare
“I’m as hot as a bun
with a cross to bear.”
Her companion replied
“And I’m fairly cooking.
I’d cast my habit
aside,
but our Lord may be
looking.”
So they sat on the
beach
and prayed for a
breeze
to refreshingly reach
past their tightly
clenched knees.

Ha ha ha- James, this is great! Love the picture that goes with it.....you never see a nun in a bikini do you? Great rhythm , rhyme, and excellent humour?...hot cross NUNS anyone? :)
ReplyDeletebwahaha...this is awesome...i hope their prayers go heeded...though not enough to blow their habits up in their faces...
ReplyDeletelol...the hot cross nuns is hilarious too...wonder if i can still play that on the recorder...
ReplyDeletehaha..this is fun...at least they don't need to be afraid to get sunburnt...smiles
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing--just try and stop me. Poor ladies...surely they need to make a "nun beach" somewhere for them?
ReplyDeleteSeemingly seemly, but I'm witholding judgement until I've read Victoria's comment :-)
ReplyDeleteA little different from my Easter encounter with Bach's St. Matthew's Passion this week. Two sides of the coin?
I love it! Great humour, rhythm that just flows....
ReplyDeleteAww..lol..I feel for them, but this is such clever word play.
ReplyDeleteLOL Reminds me of one of those old 40's or 50's saucy postcards.
ReplyDeleteA nun in the sun... Giggling.
That was delightful. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! "Cast my habit aside." :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO oh that was good, I hope they get that breeze and it's more than a tease
ReplyDeleteThanks all for your comments. Really pleased you all read it in the kindly manner of its intention. ;-))
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this James! I grew up with nuns in habits and often wondered how anyone could wear so much clothing!
ReplyDeleteVery nicely done, thank you for the laughs!
ReplyDeleteMy life changed the instant I cast my habit aside! ;)James, if you have not been told you are awesome today, I am here to honor the debt. You are awesome! Your pen, perhaps even more so. This poor tired soul was in desperate need of a smile and you delivered in spades! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHilarious...A nun in the sun
ReplyDeletewas heard to declare
“I’m as hot as a bun
with a cross to bear.” Nicely done!
Very funny, entertaining, and well presented!
ReplyDeleteThis has the "feel" of a limerick without being one. It did make me smile. Perhaps in this age of casting off the habit, they actually can wade waters in something respectably more suitable for water! LOL!
ReplyDeleteReally amusing, I enjoyed this, made me laugh, thank you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this humorous piece James, it matches the picture perfectly. Well done on doing something funny without making it sacreligious or smutty.
ReplyDeleteThis is hilarious! Well done!
ReplyDeleteHe..he..thanks for the chuckles James ~
ReplyDeleteWell, James, now I have another reason to be grateful that I didn't become a nun although the beach would have to be lower on the list than other things that nuns miss out on. Very clever. I needed that chuckle today! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeleteExcellent - great fun!
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
